Aseptic Supervisor – Summit Veterinary Pharmacy

Summit Veterinary Pharmacy Inc. is seeking an experienced, full-time permanent Aseptic Supervisor to join our busy Pharmacy Operations’ Department team.

Located in Aurora, Ontario, Summit Veterinary Pharmacy Inc. has been supplying prescription compounded medications to veterinary clinics across Canada for over 20 years. Principle Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Aseptic personnel providing guidance and support in conjunction with the Clean Room Coordinator and reporting to the Designated Manager.
  • Responsible for initial and ongoing training and assessment.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures and master formulas as required.
  • Verify the chemical and in process checks, including all mathematical calculations and documentation.
  • Assist with prioritizing the daily and weekly tasks appropriately
  • Delegate task responsibilities to the appropriate team member.
  • Complete the area checklist inspection on a daily basis or as necessary.
  • Maintain and monitor the cleanliness of the area by following the environment monitoring and cleaning schedules.
  • Assist with the monitoring of inventory items
  • Liaise with other departments, as needed.
  • Analyze production request by ensuring quantities are accurate and adequate

Preferred Skills

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with relevant sterile experience or Bachelors degree in biochemistry, microbiology or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge & experience in aseptic technique and clean room operations.
  • 2+ years in a clean room supervisory position (preferred).
  • Computer and pharmacy software knowledge.
  • Mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient understanding of all standards and requirements relevant to Clean Room operation and compounding (OCP, NAPRA & USP).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and multi-task.
  • Willingness to learn in a constantly changing environment.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Surroundings (eg: office equipment): Aseptic Clean Room; compounding area, office setting
  • Adverse Working Conditions (eg: specify extent of exposure, to noise, extreme temperatures, dangerous machinery, or other hazardous conditions requiring PPE): Employee will be required to work with Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and hazardous materials. All required PPE and training is provided to the employee.
  • Physical Effort: (eg: repetitive movement, heaving lifting): standing, repetitive movements
  • Domestic/International Travel: N/A
  • Tuesday to Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am to 2:30pm (33 hours per week)

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma (O.S.S.D.)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with relevant sterile experience or Bachelors degree in biochemistry, microbiology or related field.
